Press Release on the Status of Action Taken Against Offenders from the BNRA

19th February, 2026

  1.   In Pale Township, Yinmabin District, Sagaing Region, and surrounding areas, Naing Lin, a.k.a Htin Lin, a.k.a Bo Nagar, the leader of a local defence force known as the Burma National Revolutionary Army (BNRA), has personally committed, ordered his troops to commit, and turned a blind eye to his troops committing the following acts against the people’s revolution and the rule of law.
           (a) Oppressing the public and committing crimes, including child rape, murder, and the concealment or disposal of the bodies of murder victims.
         (b) Opening illegal toll gates and collecting taxes, encamping with around 50–100 personnel on public roads alongside the gates, planting landmines, obstructing public movement, interfering with public services such as administration, education, and healthcare, and attempting to restrict and obstruct our military movements.
         (c) Raiding our checkpoints, shooting and killing our troops and officials, assassinating individuals possessing possible in-depth knowledge of their crimes, and posing a continuing threat of such acts.
          (d) Communicating with and providing intelligence to the enemy terrorist military, for which credible evidence exists.
    2. Due to the situations outlined above, taking action against the offenders from the BNRA solely through ordinary law enforcement mechanisms was no longer possible, and the use of military force became unavoidable in order to effectively carry out law enforcement operations and to remove a thorn in the side of the revolution.
    3. The Ministry deeply regrets that carrying out this operation caused panic and anxiety among the public. It is hereby announced that arrangements will be made for the BNRA members who have not committed any crimes to join either the People’s Defence Force (PDF) or the People’s Defence Organisations (PDOs), in accordance with their will, so that they may continue participating and fighting in the revolution.
