September 7, 2021, marked the day when Acting President Duwa Lashi La of the National Unity Government announced a people’s defensive war in response to Gen. Min Aung Hlaing’s bid to reinstate military rule in Myanmar. The primary objective of this war is to safeguard the populace and thwart the return of military governance.
Today, September 7, 2023, we commemorate the two-year anniversary since the inception of the People’s Defensive War. The Ministry of Defence within the National Unity Government (NUG) bears the primary responsibility for overseeing this people’s resistance effort.
